Good Morning East high school, it is a great day to be a Red Devil and these are your morning announcements. Please stand for the Pledge of Allegiance.

I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

Green Bay Police Cadets: If you are the age of 14-20 and interested in becoming a Police Cadet the Green Bay Police Department is having an open house on October 14th at 6:00pm. Parents and participants must attend.

Join FBLA: Is your resume looking a little bit weak in the extracurricular involvement area? Employers and colleges like to see applicants who are involved at school.  Joining FBLA will give you the edge you need.  FBLA stands for Future Business Leaders of America.  It is the premier organization for business students with over a quarter of a million members nationwide. FBLA members compete in a variety of business events at the Regional, State, and National level.  Membership is free so there's no reason not to join.  See Mr. Christy in room 222 or 226 and he’ll get you signed up.  Our first meeting is Thursday, September 30th at 7am in room 222. Get involved in your school.  Sign up for FBLA.

Your Green Bay East FFA Chapter is hosting a Fall Picnic Thursday, September 23rd, after school until five pm.  Come outside to the greenhouse for free food, good company, & to hear about first trimester FFA volunteer opportunities!  To reserve your free spot, just go to “B” “I” “T” period “L” “Y” forward slash “f” “f” “a” “picnic” & complete the quick Google Form.  This way, we plan for enough food.  Again: you, food, Thursday the 23rd, reserve online “bit.ly/ffapicnic” as one word lowercase

The GBAPS Support Center is here to help you!  There is a team of teachers in the areas of math (secondary and elementary), English Language Arts (secondary and elementary), secondary science, and technical assistance, who are available to assist students after school hours.  Monday -Thursday: 4:00 - 8:00 pm and Friday 4:00 - 6:30 pm. Just call 920-272-7433, email [email protected], or text 920-309-5985 to receive 1-on-1 support.  Teachers will send you a Zoom link to your school email address once your request is received.  Turning on your camera is optional.

HOSA: Calling all students who are interested in working  in health care,  HOSA, Health Occupation Students of America, will be holding it’s first informational meeting on Tuesday, September 28th after school.  Maybe you know exactly what kind of health care job you would like or maybe you are still trying to figure it out, either way, HOSA is for you.  Health care encompasses a wide variety of jobs, from working as a dental hygienist, to being a mental health counselor or to being a CNA, nurse or doctor.  Depending on the kind of job, education requirements for obtaining a position could be a certification, a 2 year program or a 4 year program and beyond.  Being part of this club will go a long way in helping you achieve your goals.  See Mrs. Enderby in room 133 or Mrs. Christopherson in room 127 if you have any questions.  We hope you join us!

College visit: Bellin College September 22,2021 at 10:30am and Hamline University September 24,2021 at 8am in the Career Center!

Attention all East High Students. Do you want to be a part of one of the most successful teams at East High School? The Green Bay East Academic Decathlon team is having its first informational meeting this Thursday, September 23rd in room 235 right after school. Now you may hear about the academic team, but the decathlon team needs students of all ability levels. This year we are really in need of students with a GPA around 3.5, but will take anyone. As an added bonus the state meet is held at a waterpark in Wisconsin Dells.

Book Club: Book Club meets next week to discuss Almost American Girl. Find out who the readers are in your school and make plans to join the Book Club discussion on Wednesday, September 29 during both lunch hours.

Students for Social Justice: Are you still looking for a group where you feel like you belong and your ideas are heard? Join Students for Social Justice after school this Thursday. We meet in the library from 3:10-3:50. Contact Ms. Ollmann if you have questions.

As we begin our day, we acknowledge and honor the original inhabitants of our various nations of Wisconsin. As we currently reside on the traditional unceded territory of the Menominee Indian Tribe of Wisconsin, and the Ho-Chunk Nation, we acknowledge these nations, people, and communities both past and present, as well as future generations. This acknowledgement demonstrates our sustained commitment to building authentic relationships and coalitions with all members of these Nations and communities.

Word of the Day: Flehmen, noun, is a mammalian (as of horses or cats) in which the animal inhales with the mouth open and upper lip curled. This is done to expose the nose to a scent.

Have a nutty National Pecan Cookie Day and a fantastic day
