Banned Books Week: Celebrating the Freedom to Read, September 26-October 2

Banned Books Week is an annual event celebrating the freedom to read and the importance of the First Amendment.  Held during the last week of September, Banned Books Week highlights the benefits of free and open access to information while drawing attention to the harms of censorship by spotlighting actual or attempted bannings of books across the United States.  Observed since 1982, this annual library event reminds Americans not to take this precious democratic freedom for granted.

Each day there will be a trivia question to answer in the library.  Clues at the library display table will help you answer the question.  Each day, a prize will be awarded to one correct winner. Today's prize is a Packer hat! Stop in the library today!

Here is Monday’s trivia question: What book was the #1 Challenged Book of 2020?

Book Club: Book Club meets this Wednesday. If you have a copy of Almost American Girl and are finished, please return it today. There are still a few students waiting to read the book before our discussion.

As we begin our day, we acknowledge and honor the original inhabitants of our various nations of Wisconsin. As we currently reside on the traditional unceded territory of the Menominee Indian Tribe of Wisconsin, and the Ho-Chunk Nation, we acknowledge these nations, people, and communities both past and present, as well as future generations. This acknowledgement demonstrates our sustained commitment to building authentic relationships and coalitions with all members of these Nations and communities.

Word of the Day: Misbegotten, adjective, ill-conceived. Having an improper origin
