Day 2

Good Morning East high school, it is a great day to be a Red Devil and these are your morning announcements. Please stand for the Pledge of Allegiance.

I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

It Pays To Be On Time:  Our final winner for October is senior Timothy Austin.  Timothy can come on down to the attendance office to claim his $10 gift card.  East students, remember that it pays to be on time in both school and life and that 90% of the battle is just showing up.  Have a great three-day weekend!

Calling all Dancers!  East High and the Fine Arts Institute are  excited to announce that a new Dance program is beginning here!  All you have to do is see your school counselor and get signed up now!  Classes begin Trimester 2!  Don't wait-sign up today!  For more details, see Mrs. Roberts in the Fine Arts office or this flyer.

Students starting Monday due to ongoing issues of littering around the building, the park, neighboring businesses and homes you will not be able to take trays from the lunchroom out of the building.

Book Club: Book Club's next meeting is November 17. We will be discussing George, a book about being who you are. When people look at George, they see a boy. But George knows she’s a girl. George thinks she’ll have to keep this a secret forever. Stop in the library today to check out the book and find out what happens.

Library Halloween Trivia: Yesterday's trivia answer was One of Us Is Lying. The prize winner was Zoe Northway! Here's today's question: What is the name of Stephanie Perkins' horror novel about a killer attacking Osborne High students? It's streaming on Netflix. (For today's prize, you win a copy of Agatha Christie's Hallowe'en Party and chocolate!)

Library: Did you know the library has a Book of the Week? It's displayed near the entrance of the library. This week's book is #MurderTrending. If you like Squid Game or Hunger Games, you should check out this survival story that has deadly consequences.

The library doors are now closed at the start of each bell. If you are coming to the library after the bell rings, you need a pink pass. Please knock on the door; you will be let in with a pass. This is also the case for lunch. If you are coming to the library after your lunch period starts, you need to get a pink pass from a staff member to be in the halls on the way to the library.

A few other reminders:

  • Everyone in the library must sign in.

  • You stay in the library for the entire period, unless you ask for a pass to leave.

  • No cell phone calls or videotaping in the library.

  • No eating food in the library. . . unless you join Book Club!

  • You cannot be in the library if you have a scheduled class.

Please come to the library to find a quiet place to study or read. You are welcome to check out a book, ask questions, or play chess or Mancala. I look forward to seeing you soon! Ms. Ollmann

Musical Tickets - on sale now! East students, faculty, and staff - you're invited to attend the fall musical production of The Drowsy Chaperone. Performances run November 5, 6, 12, and 13 in the auditorium, and we are excited to have you back for in-person performances!  The Drowsy Chaperone is a hilarious show, with a jazz-style musical score; it's a comedy within a musical, set in the roaring 1920's.  Our student cast, pit orchestra, technical and back stage teams, costumes, make-up, and production crews are working to prepare a great show.  Get your tickets in the main office or the showtix link in the announcements!  Musical Tix!

As we begin our day, we acknowledge and honor the original inhabitants of our various nations of Wisconsin. As we currently reside on the traditional unceded territory of the Menominee Indian Tribe of Wisconsin, and the Ho-Chunk Nation, we acknowledge these nations, people, and communities both past and present, as well as future generations. This acknowledgement demonstrates our sustained commitment to building authentic relationships and coalitions with all members of these Nations and communities.
