Day 1

Good Morning East high school, it is a great day to be a Red Devil and these are your morning announcements. Please stand for the Pledge of Allegiance.

I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

Seniors: TODAY our cap and gown representative will be here during lunch hours. Cost of the cap and gown is $30.00 If you have not ordered your cap and gown please go see him. Attached is the flyer that also has other order options on it.

It Pays to Be On Time:  Today’s winner is freshman Vincent Retzlaff.  Vincent was on time to all of his classes yesterday, so he gets to come down to the attendance office and claim his $10 gift card.  Be on time today and you can win tomorrow!

Attention SENIORS ~ your senior photos are due to Ms. Altman for the yearbook by March 4. This may sound light years away, but it is a mere THREE months away. If you have your photos done, email your chosen photo today! Requirements: headshot preferred, no hats or inappropriate clothing, you MUST be wearing clothes, no weapons, and we must be able to see your face (no over the shoulder looks).

Native to Mexico, the poinsettia loves warm weather.  How poinsettias ever became winter gifts in Wisconsin is beyond us!  The Poinsettia Sale will take place in the East Greenhouse Friday, December 10th from 3-6 pm. and Saturday, December 11th from 10 am. - 2 pm.  A large, two plant arrangement of red and white poinsettias are $14 each and a one plant poinsettias are $7 each.  Again: Poinsettias, this Friday after school & Saturday from 10 until 2, at the greenhouse!

Hey East, Do you want to help out your fellow students and win gift cards of up to $25? If so, the Eats for East pantry is in need of certain products. For each boxed cereal, box of granola bars, peanut butter, jelly, spaghetti, spaghetti sauce or cooking oils. For each item you bring to your home base teacher they will enter you into the drawing. The more you bring in the more chances you get! See flyer in announcements.

Going Green in Green Bay: Let your voices be heard and join Clean Wisconsin over Zoom on Wednesday, December 8th from 5pm to 6:30pm to learn about how climate change is affecting Green Bay and to share your thoughts on the climate issues and solutions that are most important to you, as a young person. Melissa Schmitz, Green Bay's Resiliency Coordinator, will join us and use the insights you provide to develop local climate solutions. And, to thank you for your time, we will pay for your dinner with a $15 GrubHub/DoorDash gift card. Sign up at tinyurl.com/greenGB

See Mrs. Skaletski in room 211 if you have any questions.

Attention Juniors: Are you tired of working at a part time job that you hate? The Senior Business Internship class is looking for a few ambitious people who want to get a head start on their career and distinguish themselves from the rest of the job-hunting crowd.  Are you the person we are searching for?  The ideal candidate is an outgoing individual who wants to earn high school and college credit, gain real-world work experience, and get PAID for working at a challenging job during their senior year.  Do you think you have what it takes?  Then see Mr. Christy in room 222 for more information.  Space is limited to the first 15 qualified applicants so if you’re interested you need to see Mr. Christy ASAP.

Musical Theatre Students:  Workshop alert!!  Center Stage is hosting a workshop with a cast member from the touring production of Hadestown at the PAC on Wednesday, December 15th from 5:00-6:00 PM.  This will be an in-person event, and students attending the workshop will have an option to purchase "student rush" discounted tickets for the performance.  Any student member of the fall musical is eligible to participate in the workshop.  Contact Ione Berken or Mrs. Tjoflat to sign-up, or if you have questions. [email protected]

Attention to those who volunteered for the Periodic Table Mural. Work will begin after school on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday this week. Please try and make the days you are able to. Any questions, See Mr. Arts in room 212.

Library: As you recall from the library expectations video on Monday, the library is a community space. It is a place to research and collaborate. It is also an academic area: a space to study, read, and learn. It is not a place to sleep, eat, or swear. If you are only coming to the library to socialize, you will return to 001. If you do not wear your mask properly, you will return to 001. Beginning today, all hours will have a maximum number of study hall students. If you are not one of the first 40 students through the library doors, you will return to study hall. Once signed into the library, you are expected to complete work. If this isn't happening, you will be sent back to 001. Lunch hours will also have limited capacity.

Last night your boys basketball team played their first home game of the season and gutted out a 49-43 victory over Seymour.  East was led by Bill Felix who had 19 points and Ryan Sweeney who had 14 points.  Great effort from all the guys who contributed to holding the thunder to 43 points.  Your Red Devils improved to 3 and 0 on the season.  Come out this Friday, as we host our cross town rivals, GB West.  BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. We want everyone to get a retro jersey and come to the game.  You can find the retro jerseys in Mr. Rosinski's room 230 for $25.  Let's show that over school across the river who has more spirit.

The Green Bay United Wrestling Team were winners last night against Kewaunee by a score of 39-36.  Picking up victories for United were DAndre Mixon, Aydin Vang, Carter Bankes, Curtis Downey, Xavier Miller, Ashton Lubinski, and Vince Lee.  Great win and the coaching staff is proud of everyone who competed.  The wrestlers are back on the mats tomorrow away against Menasha.

As we begin our day, we acknowledge and honor the original inhabitants of our various nations of Wisconsin. As we currently reside on the traditional unceded territory of the Menominee Indian Tribe of Wisconsin, and the Ho-Chunk Nation, we acknowledge these nations, people, and communities both past and present, as well as future generations. This acknowledgement demonstrates our sustained commitment to building authentic relationships and coalitions with all members of these Nations and communities.
