Day 1

Good Morning East high school, it is a great day to be a Red Devil and these are your morning announcements. Please stand for the Pledge of Allegiance.

I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

It Pays To Be On Time:  We have two winners today since announcements were not read yesterday:  junior Keegan Smith and senior Henry Beyler.  Keegan and Henry can come on down to the attendance office to claim their $10 gift card.  Be on time today and you can win tomorrow!

Retro jerseys are on sale now for $25 in room 230.  Red, white or black.  Come get your jersey for the game.

Attention SENIORS ~ your senior photos are due to Ms. Altman for the yearbook by March 4. This may sound light years away, but it is a mere THREE months away. If you have your photos done, email your chosen photo today! Requirements: headshot preferred, no hats or inappropriate clothing, you MUST be wearing clothes, no weapons, and we must be able to see your face (no over the shoulder looks).

Hey East, Do you want to help out your fellow students and win gift cards of up to $25? If so, the Eats for East pantry is in need of certain products. For each boxed cereal, box of granola bars, peanut butter, jelly, spaghetti, spaghetti sauce or cooking oils. For each item you bring to your home base teacher they will enter you into the drawing. The more you bring in the more chances you get! See flyer in announcements.

Our first Red Devil Pride celebration will be next Wednesday, December 22nd during 5th period.  Students who passed all of their classes in the first trimester and don’t have any major behavior referrals will be invited to the cafeteria during 5th period for an ice cream treat.  Our celebrations happen each trimester, so put in the work this trimester if you didn’t make it during tri one.

Attention Juniors: Do you want to gain valuable career experience during your senior year? Do you want to earn high school and college credits while working in a challenging job? Would you like to get PAID while you’re learning??? Then you should sign up for the Senior Business Internship program.  The ideal candidate would be an outgoing individual who wants to earn high school credit, gain real-world work experience and get paid for working at a challenging job during their senior year.  Do you think that you have what it takes?  Then see Mr. Christy in room 222 for more information.  Space is limited to the first 15 qualified applicants so if you’re interested you need to see Mr. Christy ASAP.

Attention anyone interested in playing baseball this year, there will be a brief informational meeting December 20th in Room 203 after school. If you are unable to attend please contact Coach Nelson. [email protected]

Last night the boys basketball team traveled to Plymouth to take a tough non-conference opponent.  Your Red Devils led by 16 points twice in the game but the Panthers battled back to tie the game.  With 5 seconds left, East inbounded the ball and Vance Alexander put in a missed shot at the buzzer for a dramatic win.  East improved to 4-0 on the season. Come out and watch the boys take on last year's state qualifier Appleton Xavier Thursday night.

Book Club: Book Club meets next week to discuss The Inheritance Games. There is still a copy available if you would like to join us. Please check your email or Google Classroom and fill out a form to decide what we will read next for Book Club.

Students for Social Justice:Students for Social Justice meets tomorrow. It is our last meeting before Winter Break.

As we begin our day, we acknowledge and honor the original inhabitants of our various nations of Wisconsin. As we currently reside on the traditional unceded territory of the Menominee Indian Tribe of Wisconsin, and the Ho-Chunk Nation, we acknowledge these nations, people, and communities both past and present, as well as future generations. This acknowledgement demonstrates our sustained commitment to building authentic relationships and coalitions with all members of these Nations and communities.

Word of the day: Talisman, noun, something that is believed to have magic powers and brings good fortune.

These have been your morning announcements
