Day 1

Good Morning East high school, it is a great day to be a Red Devil and these are your morning announcements. Please stand for the Pledge of Allegiance.

I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

GSA (Gender & Sexuality Alliance) meets every Wednesday from 3:15-4:15 in room 301. If you are interested, walk on up to the third floor! If you have any other questions, please email Ms. Wetzel or Ms. Amschler.

Just a Snowball week reminder: Be on the lookout for the Devil head/East logo and the double dollar signs around the building to win prizes. If you find one, bring it to room 235 to claim your prize! The double dollar signs are not as obvious as the devils!

Spring Play: The Green Bay East spring play will be Almost, Maine -- a town that is SO far north, it's almost NOT in the United States. Taking place all in one night in the middle of the winter, Almost’s residents find themselves falling in and out of love in the strangest ways. Love is lost, found, and confounded. Auditions will be held Wednesday, Feb. 22nd. Actors will need to prepare a 1 minute monologue, fill out an audition form, and be prepared to read scenes from the play. For potential cast and crew, please ask Mr. Willems [email protected] or Mrs. Peters [email protected] to add you to Google Classroom where you will find necessary resources and forms.

Attention anyone interested in being a member of either the Boys or Girls Track and Field team this year, there will be a brief informational meeting in Room 221 after school on Thursday 2/3. If you are unable to attend please contact Coach Butler ([email protected]).

Vocal Jazz Students: A reminder that we are rehearsing our vocal jazz set today at 3:20 in the choir room.

Musical Students - Workshop Alert: Center Stage is sponsoring a virtual dance workshop learning the choreography to one of the songs of Hairspray with a cast member from the company! The workshop will be held on February 16, from 5:00-6:00 p.m. via Zoom. We have 5 spots open to East High students at this time, with a possibility of additional spots later.  Check google classroom and sign-up with Mrs. Tjoflat.

Congratulations to the following AVID students:  Chue Fue Yang, Jasmin Avila Bautista,  Bailey Tlachac,  and Asho Abdi. These 4 individuals have gone above and beyond during the month of January and have been selected as the AVID student of the month for January.  They have all been excellent role models in the AVID elective class and have also worked incredibly hard outside the classroom. If you see them in class, please congratulate them.

As we begin our day, we acknowledge and honor the original inhabitants of our various nations of Wisconsin. As we currently reside on the traditional unceded territory of the Menominee Indian Tribe of Wisconsin, and the Ho-Chunk Nation, we acknowledge these nations, people, and communities both past and present, as well as future generations. This acknowledgement demonstrates our sustained commitment to building authentic relationships and coalitions with all members of these Nations and communities.

Word of the Day: Obsequious, adjective, marked by or showing fawning attentiveness.

These have been your morning announcements

Have a fantastic National Girls and Women in Sports Day and a wonderful learning day
