Day 1

Good Morning East high school, it is a great day to be a Red Devil and these are your morning announcements. Please stand for the Pledge of Allegiance.

I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

GSA (Gender & Sexuality Alliance) meets every Wednesday from 3:15-4:15 in room 301. If you are interested, walk on up to the third floor! If you have any other questions, please email Ms. Wetzel or Ms. Amschler.

The ASVAB test will be given February 17, 2022 to juniors and seniors.  The ASVAB Career Exploration Program helps students learn about themselves and the world of work.  Along with testing verbal and math skills, the ASVAB also tests electronics, auto and shop, mechanical comprehension abilities, and includes a career interest inventory.  It is a great way to prepare for the ACT exam or to discover your interests.  A military enlistment score is available, but only if you desire to use it.  An educator will sit down with the students to interpret their results.  There is no cost to participate.  Sign up in the Career Center by February 11, 2022

Spring Play: The Green Bay East spring play will be Almost, Maine -- a town that is SO far north, it's almost NOT in the United States. Taking place all in one night in the middle of the winter, Almost’s residents find themselves falling in and out of love in the strangest ways. Love is lost, found, and confounded. Auditions will be held Wednesday, Feb. 22nd. Actors will need to prepare a 1 minute monologue, fill out an audition form, and be prepared to read scenes from the play. For potential cast and crew, please ask Mr. Willems [email protected] or Mrs. Peters [email protected] to add you to Google Classroom where you will find necessary resources and forms.

We all know relationships can be tough. But did you know 1 in 3 young people will experience abuse by a partner while dating? It’s a lot more common than we think!”

February is Dating Violence Awareness Month & 2022 marks the 12th anniversary of efforts to end Teen Dating Violence. Enough is enough! Everyone deserves healthy relationships. We can influence change in how we treat our partners and how we respond to acts of abuse. Let's Take ACTION and put an END to Dating Violence. If you or someone you know needs help you can text “loveis” to 22522 to talk with an Advocate or call Golden House, our local domestic violence agency, at 920-435-0100.

It is commonly believed that mankind domesticated pigs approximately around the year 8000 BCE.  This means that this upcoming Monday you may potentially have the chance to celebrate the 10,000 year anniversary of mankind domesticating pigs, but only if you stop by the culinary room and buy some bacon roses.  Please note that the odds of this being the precise date on which the first pig was domesticated is astronomically small, and we have no way of really knowing when pigs were domesticated, but we do know that they are delicious, so stop on down.

Book Club meets next week Wednesday during the African American Author Readathon. Please sign up today on Google Classroom with your chosen work to read. See Ms. Ollmann if you have questions.

As we begin our day, we acknowledge and honor the original inhabitants of our various nations of Wisconsin. As we currently reside on the traditional unceded territory of the Menominee Indian Tribe of Wisconsin, and the Ho-Chunk Nation, we acknowledge these nations, people, and communities both past and present, as well as future generations. This acknowledgement demonstrates our sustained commitment to building authentic relationships and coalitions with all members of these Nations and communities.

Word of the Day: Yen, noun, a strong desire, urge, or craving for something
