Day 1


Good Morning East high school, it is a great day to be a Red Devil and these are your morning announcements. Please stand for the Pledge of Allegiance. 


I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.


Library

Tuesday's library trivia winner was Anika Sorensen. The answer was Life in Motion. Here's today's famous Women in History quote: “One child, one teacher,

one pen, and one book can change the world.” Stop in the library today to submit your answer.


Book Club

Book Club meets today to discuss The New David Espinoza. If you read the book, please join us for the discussion during the lunch hours today. There will be treats!


Students for Social Justice

Are you wondering what the Human Library would look like? Are you asking questions like: "What would my book title be?" "What would I talk about?" Stop in the library during lunch hours this Thursday to see the Human Library in action.


Game Night is back! Tomorrow, plan to stay in the library after school. Meet your friends and learn a new game. There will be snacks, prizes, and a lot of games! Our 10th Annual Game Night is this Thursday from 3:00-5:00 PM in the library!


GSA (Gender & Sexuality Alliance) meets every Wednesday from 3:15-4:15 in room 301. If you are interested, walk on up to the third floor! If you have any other questions, please email Ms. Wetzel or Ms. Amschler. 

 

Any girls interested in joining soccer this spring please contact Coach Jay [email protected] or Adriana Montoya Valdez [email protected] for information about the season and registration. The season officially begins on March 21st.

Attention Seniors: We are looking for a couple of confident, charismatic, reflective seniors to speak on behalf of the Class of 2022 by giving the commencement address at this year's graduation ceremony. If you think you might have what it takes, or even if you are simply interested in giving it a shot, please sign up to audition as soon as possible. Attention Juniors: Please check your emails as several of you were nominated for Prom Court Royalty. Mrs. DeJardin needs you to accept or decline your nomination by 3 p.m. TODAY!

 

Attention Boys: Looking for something chill, fun, and something that will help you work on that Spring tan??  Tennis might be for you.  We have new Nike hoodies and uniforms this year! Tennis is a great sport that will help you get in shape and get you outside running around.  I promise you will have a riot if you join.  Please go down to Coach Calo's room 107 someday this week to sign up or you can sign up at our meeting TODAY, right after school.  If you have any questions, come on down!!


Vocal Jazz Ensemble - practice today, March 16th at 3:15 in the choir room.


Butter Braid Pick-Up Today! Music students - your Butter Braid orders will be available for pick-up today from 2-4 PM in the large Arts hallway near door #9. Boxes will be alphabetized according to the student seller’s last name. 


Academic Competition: Heartiest congratulations to our three academic teams who battled in the annual Academic Competition yesterday! They all represented East with excellence and style!  Our science team, comprised of Anna Lersch, Pauline Cameron, Anahi Sanchez Hernandez, Luis Gaytan, Kiana Her, Ian Froelich and Charlie Dickey and coached by Mr. Brann and Mrs. Skaletski, earned 3rd Place.  Our social studies team, made up of Adrian Diaz, Brant Craw, Anthony Fifield, Keyana Perez and coached by Mrs. Kieffer, also earned 3rd Place, missing 2nd Place by just a few points.  Finally, our language arts team, comprised of Ella Lutz, Lydia Munchoff, Matthew Phelps, and Sarah Staeven and coached by Mrs. Carlson, earned a noteworthy 2nd Place!   Way to go, Red Devils !


Buff Puff: Attention guys, Buff Puff is back. Now you ask what is Buff Puff?  Well Buff Puff is the guys playing volleyball like powder puff is where the girls play football. Buff Puff is Thursday March 17th check in is 6:15pm games start at 6:30pm. Forms are in the main office with rules. One thing is that grades and attendance count. We will be using the final trimester 2 grades. Failing 2 courses means you cannot play. All forms are due to the main office by TODAY. All team members must be from the same grade.

Attention JUNIORS: EARLY BIRD Junior Prom dance tickets will be ON SALE, starting Monday, March 14th after school in the Main Office lobby. EARLY BIRD ticket pricing is $25/ticket. Post Prom tickets will also be on sale for $15/each. 


Attention Seniors, need to finish an application for college, fill out the FAFSA or work on scholarships? Come down to the career center today and tomorrow during 1st through 5th periods to get help and Get It Done! 


Attention students interested in joining NHS.  Applications to join were sent out to any student meeting the GPA requirement.  Please check your email.  If you did not receive the email or have any questions about the application process, do not hesitate to contact Mr. Garay in room 110 or Mrs. McGrath in room 234.

 

GSA is hosting a series of Queer Art Creation Nights geared specifically toward LGBTQ+ teens. Artwork will be exhibited on April 20th in GSA's Queer Art Gala Night. GSA will meet in Room 109 today after school; materials will be provided if you don't bring your own.

 

Calling all mascots!  The Green Bay Rockers baseball team (formerly the Booyah) are hiring a new mascot!  If interested, please see Mrs. Roberts in the Fine Arts office by Friday.
