Day 1

Good Morning East high school, it is a great day to be a Red Devil and these are your morning announcements. Please stand for the Pledge of Allegiance.

I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

GSA (Gender & Sexuality Alliance) meets every Wednesday from 3:15-4:15 in room 301. If you are interested, walk on up to the third floor! If you have any other questions, please email Ms. Wetzel or Ms. Amschler.

Do you have old, broken, or dead electronics at home?  Consider the environment, skip throwing it in the landfill, & bring them to East!  Your Green Bay East FFA has an Electronics Recycling Box outside the main office from now until April 21.  Consider this for next Spring, too - we hope to make this an annual thing.  If your electronic is on the poster list, which is also linked on the virtual announcements, we’ll recycle it for free!  Questions can be directed to Mr. Mark-cart.

You may say, “But I’m afraid of needles,” but all it takes is a relaxing distraction like listening to music or checking Instagram to forget the quick poke in donating blood.  The East FFA invites you to their annual Spring Blood Drive on Wednesday, April 27th, from 8 until 3. If you are age 17 or 16 with parent’s consent, sign up for a time by going to: www.bit.ly/eastblood and type the sponsor code “OT134”  If you have any questions, please contact your blood drive coordinator, Jaedyn LaBrec!  Again: Donate blood, April 27th, save all the lives!  Thank you!

Just another friendly reminder that National Day of Silence is this Friday. If you would like to pledge your silence, please see a representative from GSA after school by Student Services or Room 309 to get your pledge card and other Day of Silence swag.  The fourth color of the Rainbow Pride flag is green, which symbolizes nature and is fitting since this week is also Earth Week. This is a great reminder to be kind to each other and to our planet--both are irreplaceable!  Please wear blue tomorrow!

Did you know that this year marks the 20th school year of having a GSA Club at East High School??  In honor of this amazing milestone and Rainbow Week, GSA is hosting its first Queer Art Gala after school TODAY in Room 309 until 7:00 PM.  In addition to being able to see the awesome creations submitted by your peers, you will also have an opportunity to create some of your own art and enjoy some delicious cupcakes.  We hope to see as many staff and students as possible!

Students: This is a reminder that Summer School sign up needs to be done by 3:00pm on Thursday. Athletes please make sure that you are signed up for Strength and Conditioning by 3:00pm on Thursday. See your counselor for sign up.

Library: Have you stopped in the library to submit your haiku? Did you check out the interactive recycling display? You can look at items to find out answers to questions like what is the most recycled item and how many plastic bags are used annually. Did you know that the average shopping bag is used for 12 minutes before it is tossed in the trash? See Ms. Ollmann about signing up for this Saturday's Earth Day Clean-Up.

Students for Social Justice: Students for Social Justice meets tomorrow after school. We just have a few meetings left this year. I hope you can make it!

Today we acknowledge that we are located on land and water that is the current and ancestral homeland of the Menominee Indian Nation, the Ho-Chunk Nation and home of the Oneida Nation. We honor and respect the many diverse Indigenous spiritual and physical caretakers of this land who have retained tribal sovereignty, treaty rights, and cultural resilience. We uphold our responsibility to repair relationships, initiate partnerships, and stand with members of these and all First Nations.

Word of the Day: Imprimatur, noun, an official approval

These have been your morning announcements

Have a great National Look-Alike Day and an amazing learning day
