Day 1

Good Morning East High School, it is a great day to be a Red Devil and these are your morning announcements. Please stand for the Pledge of Allegiance.

I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

Attention Students: If you enjoy drawing or designing, Newcap has an opportunity to Design a Mural that will be painted on the wall of the Center for Youth.  Please see the flyer here for more information. Submissions are due by May 23, 2022.

Hello East Students: Due to a clerical error the student council applications will be accepted through Thursday of this week.

Spring Concert: The East High Bands will be performing their Spring Concert tonight, Wednesday, May 11th at 7:00 PM in the auditorium. Admission is free to attend this great program of music  from the movies - don’t miss it!

Music Banquet: Music students - the Music Banquet is scheduled for June 1st at the Riverside Ballroom.  Please turn in your RSVP with menu selection by Friday!

Book Club: Book Club meets next week Wednesday! It will be our 100th Book Club book! To commemorate this milestone, we will be taking a photo in the library after school on Monday of anyone who has ever attended a Book Club meeting at East. Stop in the library and look at the Book Club display to see what we have read since 2008. For next Wednesday, we still have a copy of Kit Frick's Very Bad People if you would like to check it out and join us. Please complete the survey today about next week's Book Club.

Library: We are well on our way to complete 40 artivism projects by this Thursday! Five more buttons were created in the library yesterday. They amplify messages that mean something to the artists who created them. These are the Students Rebuild challenge causes: Clean Oceans, Humanitarian Aid, Hunger Relief, and To Overcome Bias. Stop in the library and check out the slogans that students support. Get inspired and take some time to announce an important cause.

Last night, auto mechanic turned golfer Nathan Stamper had his best showing on the golf course this year.  At a tough Butte de Morts Country Club, he shot a 65 and almost had his first birdie of his career! Way to represent East is a positive way Nathan!

Today we acknowledge that we are located on land and water that is the current and ancestral homeland of the Menominee Indian Nation, the Ho-Chunk Nation and home of the Oneida Nation. We honor and respect the many diverse Indigenous spiritual and physical caretakers of this land who have retained tribal sovereignty, treaty rights, and cultural resilience. We uphold our responsibility to repair relationships, initiate partnerships, and stand with members of these and all First Nations.

Word of the Day: Ramshackle, adjective, in a very bad condition and needing to be repaired or carelessly or loosely constructed.

These have been your morning announcements

Have a great National Eat What You Want Day and an amazing learning day
