This past June Aaron Fisk, Madeline Eckberg, and Lydia Munchoff, members of the East High School Chapter of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), attended the National Leadership Conference in Chicago, Illinois as part of the Wisconsin FBLA national team. In addition to their competitive event and attending leadership workshops by nationally recognized business people, Aaron, Maddie, and Lydia, also experienced the city of Chicago participating in tours of the Willis Tower, Shedd’s Aquarium, Navy Pier, an evening performance by the Blue Man Group, and Chicago’s famous Magnificent Mile. Two students from East FBLA were recognized at the Awards of Excellence program on July 1st by finishing in the top 10 in their event. Out of more than 200 competitors in their respective events, Madeline Eckberg placed 9th in the Insurance and Risk Management competition, and Lydia Munchoff placed 6th in Personal Finance. Since receiving its charter in 2007, East High School FBLA has had 15 top 10 finishers, and 55 national qualifiers. This is more than all 3 of the other Green Bay Schools combined! East FBLA needs new members! If you'd like to know more about FBLA, or would like to sign up to be a member, see Mr. Christy in room 222.

Musical: “Newsies” Cast, Pit, and Tech Team students:  Please check google classroom today for information on musical practice and work days. Students who signed up for tech, set, backstage, costume, make-up, or publicity team, please check your email & classroom for info on our Monday, September 12th planning meeting. Questions?  email Mrs. Tjoflat at [email protected]

Your Green Bay East FFA Chapter is hosting a Fall Picnic Thursday, September 15th, after school until 5 pm.  Come outside to the greenhouse for free food, good company, & to hear about first trimester FFA volunteer opportunities!  To reserve your free spot, just go to “B” “I” “T” period “L” “Y” forward slash “f” “f” “a” “picnic” & complete the quick Google Form.  This way, we plan for enough food.  Again: you, food, Thursday the 15th, reserve online “bit.ly/ffapicnic” as one word lowercase

Attention girls: The girls' tennis team has been out on the courts from 3 to 5 everyday, but we need more players!  If you have ever thought about playing tennis, we would love it, if you came out after school today or tomorrow and checked us out.  We have a racket for you.

Attention Juniors and Seniors: Junior and Senior shirt orders are due by this Friday. You should have received an email with the order form and we will have students in the main office lobby preselling junior and senior shirts. There will only be one order and we may not order any extra this year. So get down there and order your senior or junior shirt.

Attention 9th graders: Do you want to be part of the student decision making process at East? Do you want to be a part of helping with all school spirit events and activities? If so, you should think about joining student council. Please email Mr. VandenHouten at [email protected] if interested.

Word of the Day: Panache, noun, flamboyant confidence of style or manner, a tuft or plume of feathers, especially as a headdress or on a helmet.

Have a great National Read a Book Day and great learning day
