Day 2

Good Morning East High School, it is a great day to be a Red Devil and these are your morning announcements. Please stand for the Pledge of Allegiance.

I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

Hey Red Devils! Are you in need of some new apparel? Next week we will be pre-selling our new spirit design before school. We have T-shirts, long sleeve T-shirts, crewnecks, and hoodies available in red, black and gray. Grab a form from the main office and drop off the form and payment before school this week. Form is attached HERE as well.

Hey Students: Homecoming is next week, but we have an event that you can help your class in the spirit competition. Instead of PowderPuff we are playing Kickball. So find a team of 10 people, 5 boys and 5 girls, and pick up a sign up form in the office. Games will be Monday September 26th on the football field under the lights. This is a student engagement event so grades and attendance count. That includes tardies.

Attention 9th, 10th, and 11th graders: Do you want to be your class representative on homecoming court? This means that you would represent your class at the pep rally, parade, game and at the dance. If so please stop in room 235 this week. You can stop before school or during passing time.

JOIN FBLA: Imagine this; you're sitting in the admissions office of that college you REALLY want to get into.  The admissions officer looks down his nose at you and in a deep voice says, "So college student applicant, I see on your application it does not list anything under high school extracurricular activities. Didn't you DO anything in high school?"  You stammer.  You stutter.  Your mind goes blank and suddenly you blurt out, "WELL..... NO...... BUT I HAVE 11 PEOPLE WHO FOLLOW ME ON TIK TOK!  PRETTY SWEET HUH?!?!" The admissions officer rolls his eyes and mumbles, “OMG,” as he slams your folder shut.  A tear rolls down your cheek as you walk out of the admissions office knowing your dream of going to the University of Way Cool People is officially over. Don't let this happen to you.  Join FBLA.  FBLA stands for Future Business Leaders of America.  It is the premier organization for business students with over a quarter of a million members nationwide.  You'll do a lot of good for the school and community AND it looks really good on a college application. Membership is free so there's no reason not to join.  See Mr. Christy in room 222 and he’ll get you signed up.  Our first meeting is Thursday, October 6th at 7am in room 222. Get involved in one of the most successful clubs at EHS. Success starts here. Join FBLA today!

Ladies, if you are interested in playing basketball we will be having open gym  Sundays starting October 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd & 30th @ 6:30pm-8pm. Come get some shots up and have open runs.

Is there a teacher, monitor, or other staff member you’d like to show your appreciation for. Every school year East’s National Honors Society runs its Guardian Angel program where each member chooses an East staff member to show their appreciation for. Once again this year the Guardian Angel program will be open to all students who are interested. So if you have someone in mind, hurry and see Mr. Garay in room 110 or Mrs. McGrath in room 234 to learn the rules and claim your staff member.

Attention 10th and 11th graders--please check your email for registration information and the registration LINK for PSAT.  The test will be here at East High School on OCT 12th!  The link to register is in your student email!  Any questions can be directed to Mrs. Seaborn in student services or Mrs. Kong in the career center.

Library: Tuesday's trivia answer was The Hate U Give. Afton Fuson won the t-shirt!

Wednesday's trivia answer was 729. The winner was Grace Klinesmith.

Here is today's trivia question: How many books on the Top 10 Challenged List have a color in the title?

Students for Social Justice

Students for Social Justice is meeting tomorrow after school. We will meet in the library until 4 PM. New members are welcome. See Ms. Ollmann if you have questions.

Word of the Day: Defer, verb, to choose to do something at a later time.

Have a great National Ice Cream Cone Day and great learning day.
