Good Morning East high school, it is a great day to be a Red Devil and these are your morning announcements. Please stand for the Pledge of Allegiance.

I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

Fine Arts Institute students-this is a reminder that there is a brief meeting for ALL Institute students right now in the auditorium.  Music students, bring your portfolios

Ladies, if you are interested in playing basketball we will be having open gym  Sundays starting October 16th, 23rd & 30th @ 6:30pm-8pm. Come get some shots up and have open runs.

There are eight different types of blood.  Whether you know yours or not, if you’re age 17 or 16 with parent’s consent, you’re just the type to donate!  The East FFA invites you to their annual Fall Blood Drive on Thursday, October 13th, from 8 until 3. If you are age 17 or 16 with parent’s consent, sign up for a time by going to: www.bit.ly/eastblood and type the sponsor code “OT134”  If you have any questions, please contact your blood drive coordinator, Jaedyn LaBrec!  Again: Donate blood, October 13th, save all the lives!  Thank you!

NHS members: Our next meeting is on Tuesday, October 11th in room 309 at 7 am.  Please remember to bring all cookie dough sales to the meeting.  Any questions, please see Mr. Garay or Mrs. McGrath.

Attention students: Have you realized that the trimester is half over and you haven't joined a club yet? Don't worry, you can still join DECA. DECA is a club for anyone who is interested in business or marketing. Our next meeting is Tuesday October 11th after school in room 224. You can still join! See Mrs. V in room 224 for more details.

Today is Indigenous Peoples’ Day, a day to honor the sovereignty, resilience, and immense contributions that Native Americans have made to the world. Many students learn the phrase, "In 1492, Columbus sailed the ocean blue", and discovered America. But neither he nor those that came before him discovered America—because Indigenous Peoples have populated the Western Hemisphere for tens of thousands of years. Changing Columbus Day to Indigenous Peoples' Day is a step towards disrupting oppressive systems and shifts the focus to recognize, honor, and celebrate Indigenous Peoples, knowledge, histories, traditions, and lands. So take some time today to listen and read Indigenous musicians, influencers, artists, actors, & authors.

A Proclamation on Indigenous Peoples’ Day, 2022

Word of the Day: Bombinate, verb, to make a sustained, murmuring sound similar to a buzz or drone.

These have been your morning announcements

Have a great National Metric Day and World Mental Health Day and great learning day.
