Day 1


Good Morning East High School, it is a great day to be a Red Devil and these are your morning announcements. Please stand for the Pledge of Allegiance. 


I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.


Seniors: The cap and gown rep will be here during lunches on January 19th he will be set up in the cafeteria lobby. Cost is $30.00. 


Hey East students: Did you miss out on the spirit apparel sale last time and want to get something or want to add your collection. If so, stop in the main office or print off the order form and follow the instructions to order new apparel. An email was sent to your school email as well. Orders are due by January 12th


Students in NEW Scholars: this is a reminder that after-school programming resumes this week. 9th grade meets tomorrow, Tuesday, January 10th; 10th grade meets on Wednesday, January 11th; and 11th & 12th grades meet on Thursday, January 12th. Please check your school email or NEW Scholars Google Classroom for more updates.


ASVAB Testing: What is ASVAB testing you ask? It is an Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery is a multiple-aptitude battery (test) that measures developed abilities and helps predict future academic and occupational success in the military. You can now sign up in the Career Center with Ms. Kong to take the ASVAB.  This does not commit you to anything, but it can help you figure out your career interests and plans for after graduation.  The test helps explore career interests in general.  The Test will be February 8, 2023 7:30-11 AM. Last day to sign up is February 6, 2023. If you have any questions see Ms. Kong!


Softball: Any girls interested in Softball please come to the informational meeting on Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at 4:00 at West High School in the Thune Center. Any questions please contact Coach Wehausen at [email protected].


HOSA: We will be having a HOSA meeting next Wednesday, January 11th after school in room 133.  Please be sure to join us as we have lots of things to discuss and events coming up!

 

Latino Club: Our next meeting will be after school on Thursday, January 12th in room 234. If you were unable to attend our previous meetings but are still interested in being part of Latino Club, please join us! All students are welcome!

 

Club Latino: Nuestra próxima reunión se llevará a cabo después de la escuela el jueves, 12 de enero, en el salón 234. Si no pudo asistir a nuestras reuniones anteriores pero aún está interesado en ser parte del Club Latino, ¡únase a nosotros! ¡Todos los estudiantes están invitados!

 

Library: It's Monday! That means it's the start of a great week and time to check your email. If you have any overdue books, you have an email from the library. Please stop in the library today to return or renew overdue books.

Have you made any reading resolutions for the New Year? How about 23 in 2023? Challenge yourself to read 23 books this year. Check out the library display for ideas and a challenge sheet.

 

Attention all freshmen: Please check your school email for a message from Link Crew.  It includes a brief Google Form that we'd appreciate you completing.  Thank you.

 

Students from East High's DECA chapter competed at the District Competition at Bay Port High School on Saturday. Earning Medals were: Larson Parks (sports and event marketing) and Careli Navarro Castenada (apparel and accessories marketing). Careli also placed 3rd overall in her event. Way to go students!

There is a Tennis Fundraiser this Sunday, January 15 from 2pm - 4pm at Willow Creek Bowling Alley.  Cost is $15 per person for 2 hours of bowling, and includes shoes.  Please help support the boys and girls tennis team.  RSVP using the link in the announcements.

 

PTC: There will be no Performance Tech Club tonight after school. It will resume in 2 weeks

 

Sporting Events: Girls Basketball vs Algoma, JV @ 5:45, Varsity @ 7:00. Cost to get in is $5.00 for adults, $3.00 for students.
