Day 2

Good Morning East High School, it is a great day to be a Red Devil and these are your morning announcements. Please stand for the Pledge of Allegiance.

I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

Do you have old, broken, or dead electronics at home?  Consider the environment, skip throwing it in the landfill, & bring them to East!  Your Green Bay East FFA has an Electronics Recycling Box inside the main office from now until April 21st.  Consider this for next Spring, too - we hope to make this an annual, every year thing.  If your electronic is on the poster list, we’ll recycle it for free!  Questions can be directed to Mr. Mark-cart in room 153.

Girls Soccer: JV Soccer had a tough fought outing vs Oshkosh West in a 1-8 defeat. East's goal was scored by Oubah (Ooo-bah) Ahmed.

Varsity Soccer had a big 8-0 win over Green Bay West. Led by a 4 goal performance from CJ Ross, Cynthia Coronado Delgadillo (1), Sherlyn Grijalva (1), Ifrah Jama (1) and Kaitlyn Contreras (1) also scored a goal each. Assists on the night went to Cynthia Coronado Delgadillo (1), Nadia Sanchez-Puente (1) and Odalis Martinez Antonio (1).

Jamaya Mariner had 1 save in the shutout win.

Library: Live in the Library is back! As a culminating event during National Library Week, you are invited to share your voice in the library. Your performance could be musical--singing or instrumental--or spoken word--poetry or short story. We also have a karaoke machine! Live in the Library is taking place all day on Friday, April 28. Stop in the library to sign up or ask questions.

East High's annual Earth Day Cleanup is taking place on Earth Day, April 22 from 9 AM-11 AM. Plan on meeting in the front of school. Wear clothes and shoes for cleaning up around the school and park. Sign up in the library.

Blood Drive: 1 in 4 people will need a blood transfusion at some point in their life.  This blood doesn’t grow on trees; it’s donated from people like you!  The East FFA is hosting their Spring Blood Drive on Wednesday, April 19, from 8 until 3. If you are age 18, 17, or 16 with parent’s consent, sign up for a time by going to: www.bit.ly/eastblood and type the sponsor code “OT134”  If you have any questions, please contact your blood drive coordinator, Josie Van Beek!  Again: Donate blood, April 19, save all the lives!  Thank you!

Attention seniors: If you are a senior in good standing and you want to make a lasting impression, please consider auditions for the Class of 2023 Commencement Speech at graduation. This year’s class motto is: “You don't have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step.” Auditions will be held on Wednesday April 19, at 3:15 in Room 320. Please see either Ms. Amschler or Ms. Imlay for more information or sign up using the Google Form.

Today is Day of Silence, which is a day of silent protest to highlight and remember how violence and oppression of queer and trans people persists today.  As of last week, a record number of anti-LGBTQ bills have been introduced in state legislatures across the US so far in 2023, many of them pertaining to youth.  Thank you to everyone who is participating today to bring awareness.

These have been your morning announcements.

Have a great Day of Silence and a great learning day!
