Day 1

Good Afternoon East High School, it is a great day to be a Red Devil and these are your morning announcements. Please stand for the Pledge of Allegiance.

I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

Do you have old, broken, or dead electronics at home?  Consider the environment, skip throwing it in the landfill, & bring them to East!  Your Green Bay East FFA has an Electronics Recycling Box inside the main office from now until April 21st.  Consider this for next Spring, too - we hope to make this an annual, every year thing.  If your electronic is on the poster list, we’ll recycle it for free!  Questions can be directed to Mr. Mark-cart in room 153.

Seniors: This is the last DAY for your family to buy and submit a Senior Tribute for the yearbook at yearbookforever.com.  The cut off date is TODAY Friday the 21st at 3pm

Attention 10th and 11th Graders: Link Crew is looking for future leaders who want to give back to East, build leadership skills, and earn service hours by working with incoming freshmen.  If any 10th or 11th graders are interested in becoming Leaders for next school year, click the link in the virtual announcements, see the signs posted around school, or see Mrs. Baumann in Room 301 by Friday, April 21st.

Have you taken an Agriscience class this year, between March 2022 through March 2023? Then your Green Bay East FFA chapter has a cash award application for you!  By submitting your Supervised Agricultural Experience (or SAE) Portfolio done in Agriscience class, you can apply for awards through the FFA.  Top placing applications have the potential for a cash award, thanks to generous community support from the FFA Alumni.  Just go to https://bit.ly/eastsae & complete the quick Google Form application.  You have until Tuesday, April 25, to apply!  Feel free to email Mr. Mark-cart ([email protected]) if you have any questions!

Students: Have you purchased your yearbook yet?  The cut off date for purchase is May 1st .  Please purchase in the main office or at the website yearbookforever.com for $55.

Seniors: Please check your emails for the senior superlatives form.  Directions are included in the google form and responses are due next Wednesday, April 26th by 3pm.

Nothing fishy here! Your Green Bay East FFA invites both students & staff to come to help filet this year’s fish.  We start slicing on Wednesday, May 10, @ 3 pm.  Depending on the quality & quantities of the cuts, we hope to package these up, freeze, & donate a portion of the meat to a local food shelf, though we’ll have some for snack after all is cleaned up!  Reserve your spot with this link: http://bit.ly/eastfillet  Student permission form is linked on RSVP page or printed copies are in Mr. “Mark-cart”s room, 153.  Again: fish fileting, May 10 after school, must reserve through link!

A big thank you to all the donors who gave blood this past Wednesday.  With your help, we collected thirty-two units of blood!  That’s a possible ninety-six lives saved through the life-giving blood rallied by our Green Bay East students & staff.  Shoutout to your FFA Blood Drive coordinator, Josie Van Beek, & all the FFA volunteer helpers.  Be sure to check out FFA’s next blood drive in mid October.

Also blood drive related: we have the winners of the Culver’s Ice Cream Party! Efrain Grajeda, Marcus Walls-Sawchuk, & Hannele Walls-Sawchuk get packs of free Culver’s ice cream pints for being the largest friend pack donating blood. Come down to the main office to claim your gift cards & coupons. Congrats!

Also, Mr. Markhardt ate 12 spoonfuls of molasses with various folks this past week, as a part of our inaugural “Molasses Challenge”. While it did help lower our deferral numbers, Mr. Markhardt has this to say: “I could have eaten more & I DARE you to make me eat more next October!”

Attention students: Do you want to take an active role in what happens in school? Do you want to help plan school spirit events? If that is the case you should be a part of the student council. Stop in the main office and pick up a form, fill it out and return it to the main office by Tuesday May 2nd.

Events of the Week: Girls Soccer vs Ashwaubenon, JV @ 4:30pm, Varsity @ 6:30pm. Cost to get in is $5.00 for Adults, $3.00 for Students. Varsity Baseball plays on 4/22 vs New London @ 11:00 @ Joannes, cost to get into Baseball for free

Word of the Day: Wistful, adjective, to be full of or to inspire yearning or desire tinged with melancholy.

These have been your morning announcements.

Have a great International Creativity and Innovation Day and a great learning day!
