Day 1


Good morning, East High School... Be respectful, be dependable, be prepared, and remember, it is a great day to be a Red Devil. These are your morning announcements. Please stand for the Pledge of Allegiance. 


I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.


The GBU Wrestling Team competed this past weekend at the Shawano Holiday Classic. The following wrestlers placed in their respective divisions. 

JV: 

1st: Jose Santiago-Smith, Tai VanRemortel, Jacari Tidwell, Avontae Martin, Keona Sausi, Jason Bird

2nd:  Luke Rissling and Allen Neang

3rd: Logan Johnson, Jason DeJesus

4th:  Ethan Rand and Devin White

Girls: 

Scarlett Beckstrom placed 3rd.

Razzle Dazzle Holiday Concert: Are you finding yourself craving a little bit of holiday music? There are no sporting events at East tonight, so stop in the auditorium for an hour of relaxing holiday music! The concert is tonight, December 18th at 7:00pm in the auditorium. The program includes instrumental and vocal pieces of this winter and holiday season performed by  jazz band, choir, and orchestra students. Admission is free, and cookies will be served after the concert!


Attention East High School: Do you want to send your friends a personalized gift for the holidays? Buy a Candy Cane Gram! The Dancing Devils are selling personalized Candy Cane Grams. Each Candy Cane Gram has a personalized pouch with your desired name on it, along with 3 candy canes, and a message to your friend! Candy Cane Grams are $5.00. If you would like to purchase one and see an example of one of the pouches, find one of the Dancing Devils team members or Mr.Esrom! The final day to purchase a Candy Cane Gram will be next Wednesday, Dec.20th, 2023. Happy Holidays!

 

For the upcoming summer, UW-Madison-CAPE program is offering a range of 2-credit courses in Rehab Psych & Special Education, Art, and Health Promotion & Health Equity. This variety ensures that students can pursue their passions and delve deeper into subjects that truly resonate with them. To learn more about the program, students can visit go.wisc.edu/cape to learn more and apply. The CAPE application is open.

 

Save the date: after school Thursday, January fourth for Apps with Apps night! Come to work on applications, either for FFA, college, or other scholarships, all while eating appetizers! Again: Thursday, January fourth, after school, room one fifty-three.

 

The Sophomore Student Council group is having a bake sale before school and during the lunch hours on Tuesday and Wednesday This week. Stop in for a sweet treat!

 

Red Devil Pride Champion of the Week: Wassup Red Devils?! Every week, your teacher will nominate a class that is following RDP rules and expectations. The classes that are chosen will then go on the wheel to be spun for a chance to win treats, snacks, and goodies from Mr. Niko. The winners for today are:

  • Mr. Dix 3rd hour
  • Ms. Hartman 4th hour
  • Ms. Skaletski 3rd hour

Today is the start of the chess tournament! Both players and spectators can bring their lunch to the back table area of the library today. Stop in the library if you have any questions.

 

Did you know there are multiple holiday handouts and Make and Take activities in the library this week? You can find a word search, word scramble coloring pages, and snowflake handout. You can also make a holiday card or decorative star. Stop in the library today!

Attention freshmen: Want to end 2023 on a high note, and start 2024 with less school stuff to worry about? Well, after school this week Thursday, December 21st in room 309, Link Crew is hosting a socialize and study event for 9th graders! It'll be a great way to get caught up on school work, collaborate with your peers, get a little help from some upperclassmen, and maybe have a holiday treat before you leave for winter break! Again, this is open to all freshmen after school this week Thursday, December 21st. Get caught up before the new year! Any questions, please see Ms. Baumann in room 301.
