Day 2

Good morning, East High School... Be respectful, be dependable, be prepared, and remember, it is a great day to be a Red Devil. These are your morning announcements. Please stand for the Pledge of Allegiance.

I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

Attention Seniors - just a reminder that tomorrow, January 17th, is Cap & Gown Order Day! Please check your email for details.

The Green Bay United Wrestling Team were winners Thursday night by the score of 46-26 over Xavier. Picking up wins for United were Dylan Froelich, Grant Shaurette, Pierce Demars, Avontae Martin, Fontane Sifonte, Jose Santiago-Smith, Tai VanRemortel, and Ethan Rand. Additionally Jason DeJesus and Brady Ristow picked up wins on JV. Great work wrestlers, Go GBU!

Dinner and ACT Prep for Juniors- To help prepare for the ACT in March, Juniors are invited to participate in practice sessions in the cafeteria after the dinner program on January 23, February 6, and February 20. Sessions will run from 3:15-4:00pm and are optional. If you have any questions about this, contact Mrs. Bleier.

Attention anyone interested in playing baseball- There will be a short meeting after school Thursday, January 18th in room 203. No previous experience is required.

Are you passionate about arguing? Do you love to prove that you are right? Do you want to put another club on your college application? Then join the East High Schools Debate Team! We need students like you who are invested in their future. Anybody from every skill level is welcome! If you’re interested, please join us for a meeting every Wednesday morning at 7:00 am. The meeting will be held in Room 314.

Attention Juniors! Any Junior who is interested in helping with the Junior Prom dance is encouraged to attend our second, brief meeting on Wednesday, January 17th from 3:05-3:30pm in Room 242. We will be generating a list of potential themes & you won't want to miss this!

Attention Red Devils, Silent Night is on Saturday January 27th starting at noon. One of the events is a wing eating contest of which East High is the defending champion. We are in need of 5 people to eat wings for East. Please sign up in the main office by January 18th. If we have more than 5 people, we will have a wing-off at the pep rally the day before. Students must be in good standing- grades and attendance will be checked for this event.

Attention Seniors-time to do the FAFSA! Please check your GBAPS email for details about a FAFSA event that will be held Thursday, January 18th from 2-6:00 PM in the Career Center. You and/or your parents/guardians are invited to get help with the FAFSA. Free to all East students- no registration needed! See you thursday night!

Your Green Bay East FFA will be having a quick meeting today after school in room one fifty-three. We had to reschedule from last Tuesday's snowstorm. Appetizers will be served & most importantly: roles for our Speaking Contests next week on the twenty-fifth!! We need all hands on deck for this! Come by the meeting or talk to Mr. Mark-cart if you'd be willing to help.

The Library is collecting breakfast items--oatmeal packets and applesauce and fruit cups--for the St. John's Homeless Shelter. The food drive will continue until Friday, January 26. Stop in the library if you have questions.

Did you know that January is National Thank You Month. There are some fabulous felt postcards in the library that you can take to color and write a "thank you" message. Think about who you are grateful for, and gift them a postcard.

Book Club meets tomorrow during lunch hours. Bring your lunch and copy of What Beauty There Is to the discussion.

Word of the Day: Cosplay, verb- to engage in the activity or practice of dressing up as a character from a work of fiction

These have been your morning announcements.
