Day 2

Good morning, East High School... Be respectful, be dependable, be prepared, and remember, it is a great day to be a Red Devil. These are your morning announcements. Please stand for the Pledge of Allegiance.

I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

Students- please remember that there is no school tomorrow because of a conference trade off day. While other schools are in session, you are fortunate to have the day off! Monday is a day off for the whole district. Enjoy your 4 day weekend, and go Packers!

ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) Testing- ASVAB is a multiple-aptitude battery (test) that measures developed abilities and helps predict future academic and occupational success in the military. You can now sign up in the Career Center with Ms. Kong to take the ASVAB. This does not commit you to anything, but it can help you figure out your career interests and plans for after graduation. The test helps explore career interests in general. The test will be Thursday, February 8th from 7:30-11:30 AM. The last day to sign up is Tuesday, February 6. If you have any questions, please see Ms. Kong!

Attention anyone interested in playing baseball- There will be a short meeting after school today in room 203. No previous experience is required.

The National Guard will be visiting students in the cafeteria today from 10:30am-12:30pm.

Attention Red Devils, Silent Night is on Saturday January 27th starting at noon. One of the events is a wing eating contest of which East High is the defending champion. We are in need of 5 people to eat wings for East. Please sign up in the main office by January 18th. If we have more than 5 people, we will have a wing-off at the pep rally the day before. Students must be in good standing- grades and attendance will be checked for this event.

Attention Seniors-time to do the FAFSA! Please check your GBAPS email for details about a FAFSA event that will be held tonight from 2-6:00 PM in the Career Center. You and/or your parents/guardians are invited to get help with the FAFSA. Free to all East students- no registration needed! See you tonight!

Dinner and ACT Prep for Juniors- To help prepare for the ACT in March, Juniors are invited to participate in practice sessions in the cafeteria after the dinner program on January 23, February 6, and February 20. Sessions will run from 3:15-4:00pm and are optional. If you have any questions about this, contact Mrs. Bleier.

Library- It's the day before a long, cold weekend. Don't be caught without a good book to read! Stop in the library for the next book in a series or a book recommendation.

Did you know that January is National Thank You Month? There are some fabulous felt postcards in the library that you can take to color and write a "thank you" message. Think about who you are grateful for, and gift them a postcard.

Library reminders: If you are failing a class, you are welcome to come to the library to study or finish work. You need a pink pass or Smart Pass from that teacher. Check you IC daily.

Word of the Day: Gargoyle, noun- a strange or grotesque human or animal figure that sticks out from the roof of a building and is used to cause rainwater to flow away from the building’s sides

These have been your morning announcements.

Have a superb National Thesaurus Day and a great learning day!
