Good morning, East High School... Be respectful, be dependable, be prepared, and remember, it is a great day to be a Red Devil. These are your morning announcements. Please stand for the Pledge of Allegiance.

I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

Silent Night is this Saturday afternoon, January 27. The event will be held at West High School. This is a fundraising event to raise money for the GBAPS McKinney Vento Homeless Youth Program. The focus is on raising awareness of and money for the program that supports homeless youth at school. The money is raised through raffle baskets, a silent auction, and a canned food drive. This fundraiser is two basketball games (girls and boys)- the girls game is at 12:00, and the boys play at 2:00. Student tickets are $3 a piece, and adults are $5. You may also bring in canned food for free admission.

Book Club's next meeting is on Valentine's Day. We will be discussing The Davenports, a dazzling story set in 1910 Chicago. It's filled with fancy parties and matrimonial matches, and ultimately, young adults discovering their own paths. If you're looking for a romance read, stop in the library and check out The Davenports today.

East Seniors: check your GBAPS email for details on a FAFSA/Scholarship event happening next week January 29, 30, & 31 in the Career Center. Make a plan to attend!

ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) Testing- ASVAB is a multiple-aptitude battery (test) that measures developed abilities and helps predict future academic and occupational success in the military. You can now sign up in the Career Center with Ms. Kong to take the ASVAB. This does not commit you to anything, but it can help you figure out your career interests and plans for after graduation. The test helps explore career interests in general. The test will be Thursday, February 8th from 7:30-11:30 AM. The last day to sign up is Tuesday, February 6. If you have any questions, please see Ms. Kong!

Girls interested in Softball - please check your email about an important parent/player meeting on February 1st at 6:00 pm at West High School. Softball open gym times have started, and you can find a schedule here.

Attention students: Our winter dance, Snoball, is Saturday February 10. If you want to bring a guest from a different school, you will need to pick up a guest form in the attendance office. You will need to have your guest fill it out and return it back to the attendance office to be completed.

Hey students…Do you have blood? Maybe a little more than you need? You should consider giving some away! Help save a life by donating blood on Wednesday, January 31st through the Community Blood Center’s blood drive hosted by HOSA. This blood drive is open to students 16 years old or older. 16 year olds will need parent permission, but 17 and older do not. The blood drive is being held during the school day so as an extra added bonus, you get to get out of class. Students, just so you know, you will receive 2 volunteer hours for donating- 1 for you, and 1 for the life you are helping to save. To register, please use the link in the announcements or contact Mrs. Christopherson. Please see Kristina or Emily in the office or Mrs Christopherson in room 133 to get a permission slip. https://donate.communityblood.org/donor/schedules/drive_schedule/37735
