Day 2


Good morning, East High School... Be respectful, be dependable, be prepared, and remember, it is a great day to be a Red Devil. These are your morning announcements. Please stand for the Pledge of Allegiance. 


I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.


Dinner and ACT Prep for Juniors- To help prepare for the ACT in March, Juniors are invited to participate in a practice session in the cafeteria after the dinner program on February 20. The session will run from 3:15-4:00pm and is optional. If you have any questions about this, contact Mrs. Bleier.

 

East Students: NEW Debate Team meeting day and time! Are you passionate about arguing? Do you love to prove that you are right? Do you want to put another club on your college application? Then join the East High School Debate Team! We need students like you who are invested in their future. Anybody from every skill level is welcome! If you’re interested, please join us for a meeting every Friday after school! The meeting will be held in Room 314.


Students who have signed up for the ASVAB test- testing will be on Monday, February 19 from 7:30-11:30 am in the Career Center. Please see Ms. Kong if you have any questions!


Students for Social Justice and Diversity are meeting this Friday after school in room 147 from 3:05-3:45pm. Check Google classroom for more information or email Lorna Jensen at [email protected].


Anyone interested in joining Girls Soccer this Spring, our next Open Gym is tonight, Thursday, Feb. 15th, from 7-8:30pm in the Main Gym. Attendance is optional, but highly encouraged.

 

Today is FBLA Week Thankful Thursday - If you'd like to take time to thank an EHS teacher or staff member, drop by room 222 to pick up some FBLA Thankful Thursday Cards and write a short thank you note. Give the card to the staff member yourself, or return your card(s) to Mr. Christy to have it delivered. This event is open to all students, so if you'd like to participate see Mr. Christy in room 222.

 

FBLA Fun Fact of the day: Over the last 40 years, the national FBLA charitable endeavors have raised over $15 million dollars for the March of Dimes

 

FBLA Members - Remember tomorrow is FBLA Color day. Don't forget to wear your FBLA shirt!

 

GSA will be meeting tomorrow during Advisory in the LMC. Even if you have not attended any meetings yet this year, you are welcome to attend!  

 

Library- Did you go on a Blind Date with a book this week? If you checked out a book from the library's Blind Date with a Book display, you got a book and a chance to win a prize. The winner of the Marcus Movie Gift Card is Bailey Tlachac. Everyone who participated also gets a gift. Stop in the library today!

 

Readathon Readers, please check your email for an important message from Ms. Ollmann. The African American Author Readathon is Wednesday, February 21!


Word of the Day: Inveigh, verb-  is a formal word that means "to protest or complain bitterly or vehemently"
