Maybe summer is a good time to revisit a childhood story or read a classic that you missed in high school. The Yearling by Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings was published in 1938. sold over 250,000 copies and won the Pulitzer Prize. Set in Florida, Jody is a young boy who always wanted a pet. He convinces his parents to allow him to adopt a fawn. Jody and the fawn, Flag, grow up together, and eventually Jody is forced to make a heart-wrenching choice between Flag and his family.
