Does remote learning make you feel like you are on a deserted island? Do you miss being involved in school activities? Have no FEAR, Forensics is here! Nope, not the crime scene sort of stuff you might be thinking. Well then, what’s forensics, you ask? It is defined as discourse in search of the truth. As an interscholastic academic sport, Forensics is a type of speaking competition where students choose from 16 different categories — ranging anywhere from newscasting to performing an excerpt from your favorite piece of literature. And the best part is that the only person you are competing against is YOURSELF! This year, the entire competition season has been moved to a virtual format and most categories will be judged on a recorded performance. If this is your first time participating in Forensics, this offers students the opportunity to get involved in an activity where you can be intense in a casual atmosphere. If you are interested in learning more about forensics, there is an informational meeting on Wednesday, November 18th from 12:00 - 12:45, where you will meet the coaches. We will explain the categories and talk about expectations for practice and performance. Please email Mrs. Peters ([email protected]), Mrs. Amshler ([email protected]), or Mrs. Jammali ([email protected]) for the meet link. The meeting will be recorded if you are unable to attend, but would still like to learn more.
